Do we live a small, fearful life because we dare not to dream? Are we so fearful of failure and disappointment that we actively avoid thinking of what might be? Is it hard to imagine that what we might accomplish with God, is far beyond our comprehension.
Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.
Ephesians 4:20 (TPT)
Have we agreed with the lie that humility is not following the big dreams God has placed in us? That a small safe life is all we should expect. That we don’t have what it takes, and we don’t deserve anything more than what we have. That our destiny is not in God’s hands. If so, we have been deceived.
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 1:37 (KJV)
If God puts something in our heart, something that is clearly from Him, do we believe it is possible? Have we held back from stepping out into the unique purpose God has placed within us?
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 (NASB)
God may have graced us with the ministry of evangelism, teaching, prophesying, pastoring, or even the anointing to be an apostle (someone sent by God with a message). Maybe we have been called to missions, to pray, hostess, intercede, worship, serve, create, encourage or heal. Perhaps we have the gift of faith, wisdom, knowledge, discernment of spirits, speaking in another tongue or interpretation of tongues. All of these are needed for the building up of the body of Christ on the earth. Yet, we have not put our hand up to do so. Are we avoiding trying or volunteering because we feel overwhelmed, unqualified or concerned about being rejected? Fear is the driver of this mindset. We must let this go.
We see through a mirror dimly and may not be able to discern how our calling is of any use to Him and His kingdom. However, God’s perspective and plans are perfect. He is outside of time and space. When we talk about the big picture His version of this is all encompassing, the macro of macros! He is the creator of the universe, and He can and does intervene in our lives and we can co-labour with Him to bring about His good will.
You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
James 4:2-3 (ESV)
With God’s creativity, power and strength anything is possible. We are his sons and daughters. He has been waiting for us to step into our destiny. He wants us to thrive and succeed in our calling. He’s waiting with bated breath for us to obey and ask for his support.
If we are feeling weak and incapable we need to read our Bible and see how God has chosen the least of people, like David (a shepherd boy) and Peter (a fisherman) and used them to change the world. We can put on some praise and worship music and come into God’s presence with thanksgiving. We can write a letter to God. We can pray. If we get close and intimate with Holy Spirit, He will embolden us and guide our steps forward. As our loving God is for us and asking us to do something, He will be strong where we are weak.
It is easier than we think. What is one thing we can do today to move in the direction of realising our Godly dreams, and destiny? Maybe we can volunteer at church. Perhaps we can talk to our pastor or the leader in the area we are drawn to. Do we need to consider bible college or other courses. Should we look up how to create a VLOG or podcast? Or perhaps it’s as simple as talking to our neighbour about our joy in the Lord and what He has done in our lives.
