Occasionally, we may suffer from sickness, relationship problems, financial difficulties, the stressors of running a business, work and home life. Or someone close to us is. At other times it may be our concern about the poor decisions and actions someone we love is making. Every so often we may be experiencing several of these issues at once. We may feel helpless and powerless at these times, resulting in a sense of being overwhelmed.

Where there is pressure, steam can build up and escape, burning us or those around us. No one wants this for themselves, and neither do they intend to “roast” those people around them. However, it can, and does happen.

If this occurs what can we do? We can apologise quickly and without reservation to anyone, man, woman or child, whom we have hurt or dishonored.

“So then, if you are presenting a gift before the altar and suddenly you remember a quarrel you have with a fellow believer, leave your gift there in front of the altar and go at once to apologize to the one who is offended.

Matt 5:23-24 TPT

We may think we must make things turn out the way we want. We may work hard in our own strength to fix things. But often, even when we mean well we don’t have the answers and our efforts may make things worse.

Have we lost our anchor in the storms of life? Have we taken our eyes off Jesus? Do we doubt that our all powerful, living God can turn all things to good? In fact, in these times we need to look to our loving God for heavenly answers to our issues.

We must remember that God has creative solutions to every earthly problem. There is nothing too big or too small for Him. So, how do we do this?

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22 (ESV)

Cast means throw here. We are not delicately handing these things to God. It’s a forceful action to throw off all our burdens, worries and anxieties on the Lord.  It takes effort and intention on our part.

Therefore, we spend time alone in God’s presence throwing off all our burdens and worries like an ill-fitting cloak and throwing them at His feet. Then, we must wait on Him.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Psalm 130:5-6 (NIV)

We trust God to care for us and deal with the issues, in His way and timeline. His answer may differ from what we want to happen. His timeline is perfect and we must wait on the Lord.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 ESV

He is a good God, he loves us and never leaves us orphaned.
